Delta Air Lines ' popular airport lounges are getting a more exclusive tier, in the airline's latest push to cater to high-spending travelers. The first "premium" lounge is scheduled to open in June at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, and at 38,000 square feet, it will be the largest of the carrier's lounges, Delta said on Thursday. Other high-end Delta lounges will open in Boston and Los Angeles later this year. The new strategy shows Delta moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach for its airport travelers. WASHINGTON, Feb 27 (Reuters) - The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday it is awarding nearly $1 billion to 99 U.S. airport terminal projects under a 2021 $1 trillion infrastructure law. The awards include $10.8 million to Des Moines International Airport in Iowa to replace the 1948 terminal that is operating above capacity and $29 million to Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah for a terminal and concourse redevelopment program. This is the second phase of funding - the FAA awarded nearly $1 billion for airport terminal projects announced for 85 airports last year. In November the FAA granted final environmental approval for construction of a new $4.2 billion terminal at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport and for an $8.5 billion project at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport that includes a new Terminal 2. WASHINGTON, Nov 4 (Reuters) - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Friday it would partially approve a request by JetBlue Airways (JBLU.O) to waive minimum flight requirements at New York-area airports John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International. The decision allows JetBlue to hold on to valuable flight rights at some of the most congested U.S. airports. JetBlue sought the waiver in July, saying its "workforce and flight operations are under extraordinary strain, leaving little margin for operational challenges caused by airport construction, (air traffic control) delays and weather," the FAA said. Roughly 1,000 fast food workers at San Francisco International Airport are striking, saying they are experiencing stagnant wages and chronic understaffing. Most fast food workers at the airport make $17.05 an hour, which has remained flat for three years, the union said. The SFO Airport Restaurant Employer Council, which manages the 84 restaurants for the airport, did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. Airport food and drinks have grown more expensive, which could lead to further disparity in menu prices compared to wages, as in the case of the San Francisco workers. The SFO strike is open-ended, meaning there is no planned end date.
